Swimming!

So, I have had this blog for what: a week? And I'm already falling behind! But, here's a little dose of our week!

On Wednesday, Leo man and I hung out with my friend Melissa. She's gettin' old *wink, wink* so I had to drive her down to the chiropractor for an adjustment. Leo made an adjustment to the office plant. To be more specific, he tore some leaves off. Then, as any self respecting baby would do, he tried to eat them. Melissa and I hid the evidence in the plant pot, fluffed it up a bit to hide the damage. Afterward I ate my first ever fish taco, can you believe it?! I have been seriously missing out! We ate at this great little taqueria in East L.A. After lunch, swimming:

Summer Vacation has begun!

Aaah...the hot days and long evenings of summer are here. One of the best parts of being a teacher is summer vacation, and I've looked forward to this summer with so much anticipation. It's weird, because this has actually been my shortest school year. I was only there for three weeks in September, went on maternity leave, and came back full time in January. But seriously, this has been the L O N G E S T school year of my life, and the most miserable. But enough of that, because summer is here! 11 glorious weeks of sleeping, swimming, shopping, eating, rinse and repeat.

Tim and I had to go to work today to pack up my stuff and schlep it all home. It was supposed to be a full work day, but I got there at 7:50 and was driving off campus by 10. SWEET! My sweet and wonderful husband unpacked both cars and stuffed my belongings in the house (we now look like hoarders by the way).

Then, it was off to run errands. We picked up Tori, my sister in law, and headed to Old Town to do some eating and shopping. We ended up walking around for a few hours and buying things we really don't need, but I did see a couch I liked and could never afford. Damn you Pottery Barn, damn you...

This is how Leo feels about restaurants. Oh, and he successfully drank through a straw for the first time!

After Old Town we headed to Home Depot to buy paint for the living room and plants for the yard. Someday our house will be finished, I hope!

Tomorrow should be another adventure, off to the LAUSD offices in downtown to look for a position for next year and schmooze the personnel specialists.

Back Already!

Today was Tim's first father's day. Leo got papa a card (he signed it himself!) and a 10 piece Craftsman something-or-other that Tim seemed mighty impressed with. The box said something about an air hammer, whatever that means... Next we headed off to Dish for a delicious breakfast with my fabulous in-laws. We played pass-the-potato with Leo and he handled it like a champ! He is so mellow and easygoing, I swear! He just loves to visit. He also tried to call his baba on the phone this morning, which was too cute!
After breakfast we headed to my parent's house. It was my brother's birthday today too, so we did double-duty celebrating. After recent events, it was special to actually be celebrating another year of life for John, we almost lost him for a bit. Leo man enjoyed hanging out with Grandma, Grandad, Uncle John, and Aunt Catherine.
Last, off to a BBQ at the Coleman's, where we got to check in on some of our baby friends. Leo took some time to sit in the dirt and smush it in his hands. He also nibbled on a rock, delish!
Back to work tomorrow, LAST DAY! Packin' up and takin' things home...

Why hello there...

Chances are if you've found your way here, you already know me. But, in case you are someone who has stumbled here by accident, here's the scoop:

I am 27 years old. I'm married to Tim and I am mother to the cutest soon-to-be 9 month old boy you've ever seen, Leo. I've been teaching first grade for the past 5 years, but who knows what the next school year will bring. Currently, it is summer vacation, woo hoo!! I can't wait to spend 11 glorious weeks as a full time mama!

That's it for now, be back soon with more. For now, I'll leave you with an adorable pic of Leo man. This was taken during his first vacation to Palm Springs, just a few weeks ago...

Life is good...
